Sunday School
Sunday School is the largest organization of our church. We have classes for all ages birth through adults. Sunday School is the Bible teaching and Outreach arm of our church. We seek to teach people the Word of God and make it applicable to their everyday lives. Through our Sunday School, we also emphasize ministry and fellowship to and among our members.

Evangelism Training
For the past several years. Southern HIlls members have been involved in FAITH Sunday School Evangelism Strategy. Dozens of people have been trained and many people have been reached through this ministry.
Music Ministry
At Southern Hills we believe that music can reach across many generations, The music ministry offers people of all ages a place to serve and to use their gifts in worship and praise.

Missions
As a Southern Baptist and a Missouri Baptist affiliated church, we help support more than 10,000 missionaries who serve in North America and around the World. Some of these missionaries have close ties to us, since they were members here in our church as students or they are related to families within our church. Eleven percent of our general offerings go to support these missionaries plus special offerings that we take up at certain times of the year. Generally the church goes on a stateside mission trip once a year or we connect with the MidLakes Baptist Association, which we are a member of and go with other local Baptist churches.
Many of the college students with SBU go on mission trips with SBU and we support them in prayer and finances. The WMU (Women's Missionary Union) group in our Church actively promotes, educates, and prays for this area of ministry.

Prayer Plus Partnership
As a Church we are focusing on special prayer for the Fula of Sierra Leone, West Africa. They are classified as an unreached people group by world missions standards. Pastor Gary has made a recent vision trip there and is working on helping the church to look at further missions beyond prayer only. Please pray for these people trapped in religious confusion and darkness. Your Gift of Ministry is important and needed. The Bible tells us that we all at the moment of our salvation receive at least on spiritual gift that needs to be discovered and used in the Body of Christ the Church to contribute to the ministry work, and fellowship of the church. It is most needful for the body and it will be most fulfilling for you personally. We make a Spiritual Gift Test available, and would like to try to help you discover and use your giftedness in the church.

Student Ministry
At Southern Hills Baptist Church we believe students are the catalyst for change in our generation. Students are the church of today - not only the church of tomorrow. We believe it is time for students to "step up" and make a difference in their world. Our youth ministry exists to share Jesus with non-Christian students, equip them in their faith, and place them in ministry so that the lives of students will glorify God.

Children Ministry
The children's Sunday school area is a vital part of Southern Hills with classes for all ages. Wednesday evening TeamKids is a children's ministry for boys and girls age 3 yrs to 5th grade. Come and join them for exciting games, special theme night, Bible lessons and making new friends.

College Ministry
The transition from high school to college is a big one for most people. We want to help make that transition as smooth as possible. After many years of college ministry, we have learned that college students are passionate about a lot of things. As you make your way through the next few years and pursue some of those interests, our primary purpose is to get to know you and lead you into a growing relationship with Jesus.

Areas of Ministry
Prayer, preaching, outreach, disciplining, missions.Teaching or working with children and youth. Special Music, instrumental music, choir. Nursery work, office work, kitchen help, general help.
